Body Lift
Body lifts allow surgeons to remove excess skin and fat from one or many areas of the body. You can re-sculpt your entire body with a total body lift or lower body lift, or choose one or more less extensive body contouring techniques such as an arm lift, thigh lift, and butt lift.
Body lift is usually a set of multiple procedures
offered to patients after massive weight loss, resulting in
a great excess of hanging loose skin at multiple body sites.
It incorporates a range of procedures such as tummy tuck,
arm lift, thigh lift, buttock lift, breast lift etc. This
approach is tailored to every patient, depending on their
particular problem areas.
Classically, this occurs
after weight loss surgery, popularised over the last few
years. These include such procedures as gastrointestinal
bypass operations, and the laparoscopic gastric band
procedure. After stabilisation of the weight loss, with no
change in the patient’s weight for some time (on average
about 2 years after the weight loss surgery), body lift
surgery is planned if the weight loss has led to the
development of significant loose skin, of concern to the
patient. At present, medicare rebates and health insurance
claims are possible for these procedures.
